EIGHT men have been charged with aggravated burglary following a break in at a jewellers in the Lakeside shopping centre where goods totalling £1.2m were stolen. The Romanian nationals will be appearing before magistrates in Basildon on Monday, April 14, each charged with one count of aggravated burglary.
DETECTIVES in Grays are appealing for information following a robbery in First Avenue. A man in his 40s from Grays was approached by two black men as he walked to his car parked at the junction of First Avenue and London Road, at 8.50pm on Friday, April 11.

A THUG from Tilbury, who was caught on camera holding his dog in the air as he throttled it has been spared jail. Bradley Robertson, 27, of Tilbury, Essex, was investigated after CCTV footage emerged of him suspending his Yorkshire terrier Scamp (who has since been re-homed) in the air by its neck.

POLICE officers in Thurrock are hoping someone will recognise a woman whom they want to speak to about the suspected theft of Ugg boots last month. A suspect has entered Office shoe shop in Lakeside, accompanied by a child, on March 13 and removed a box from behind the counter and left without paying. The boots are valued at over £100.

POLICE investigating an rtc in Fobbing have a man on police bail while enquiries continue.
A silver Ford Fiesta was believed to be involved in a single vehicle collision between High Road, Fobbing and Festival Leisure Park, Basildon, sometime between 2am and 5.30am on March 29.
