High winds warning for Wednesday

THE MET OFFICE has issued a high winds warning for an area including Thurrock for Wednesday February 5th. The warning states: "Gales accompanied by heavy rain will continue northeastwards overnight, the gales swinging into the west by morning but still with the potential for gusts to around 70 mph in coastal areas, possibly 80 mph in the far southwest.

Police appeal: Seen a robber on a pink BMX in Chafford?

DETECTIVES are appealing for information following the attempted robbery of a teenager in Chafford Hundred. The 16-year-old victim was walking up the cycle path which leads to Saffron Road at about 1.40pm on Friday, January 31, when a man on a pink BMX approached him and asked for a cigarette.

Fire in house in Church Road, Tilbury

FIRE CREWS were called to a fire in a house in Church Road, Tilbury on Saturday morning (Feb 1st). The crews wore breathing apparatus and used one hose reel to tackle the blaze in a cupboard on the ground floor. Crews extinguished the fire by 09:47hrs.

Woman taken to hospital after attempt robbery in Tilbury

THE 28-year-old victim was walking in an alleyway between Dunlop Road and Seymour Road in Tilbury at around 2.30pm on Tuesday, January 28, when a man on a bike approached her and tried to grab her bag from off her shoulder. She hung onto it but fell to the floor. Nothing was taken but she suffered cuts and bruises. She did not require hospital treatment.

Appeal after man attacked in Stanford-le-Hope

THE 34-year-old victim was walking along Victoria Road in Stanford-le-Hope at around 4am on Sunday January 19 when he was approached by a group of three to four men, all aged between 18 and 25. The group attacked him, punching and kicking him to the ground. He was left unconscious for a short time and he suffered facial injuries.

Men sought after theft from HMV Lakeside

IT happened on January 21 when items were placed in a sports bag and the suspects then failed to pay for the items. Anyone with any information about the identity of the men captured on CCTV is asked to contact Pc Mike Deats, Lakeside Neighbourhood Policing team on 101.

NHS campaign urges residents to use the right service

LOCAL NHS leaders are urging people to use the right NHS services as part of a campaign launched at the start of winter. The striking yellow and black campaign is continuing across Essex to encourage people to use the most appropriate NHS service when they become ill. One of the main aims of the campaign is to raise public awareness of the NHS 111 telephone service as a key first point of contact for non-emergency medical help. The campaign is supported by a new website - ‘GetWellEssex.com’ where people can simply type in their postcode and choose from a list of symptoms to find out details of which service they should contact.
