FIRE CREWS released a woman trapped in a car following an RTC involving a lorry and car. Using two sets of cutting equipment crews had released the woman by 10:48hrs. She was left in the care of the Ambulance Service.

£14 million worth of drugs seized in Purfleet

HEROIN, cocaine, amphetamines and cannabis were concealed in cookware in a trailer which arrived from the Netherlands. The haul, described by officials as their biggest ever, was made on January 19. The drugs seized weighed a total of 700kgs.

Cars set on fire in Tilbury in scrapyard

FIRE OFFICERS attended at Hume Avenue, Tilbury after receiving a large number of calls after a fire broke out in a scrap yard. On arrival the Incident Commander reported that the fire involved six cars. Using two main jets crews had the fire surrounded by 03:30 and extinguished by 03:51hrs.

Fire in tank in Shell Haven, Coryton

STATION Officer Geoff Wheal from Corringham fire station said: The workers were carrying out maintenance work on the empty storage tank, they were cutting away at the steel flooring and welding when tarmac at the base of the tank started to smoulder and caught alight, the crews wore breathing apparatus and used one main jet to extinguish the fire.

Prince Charles to visit High House

PRINCE Charles is set to visit the High House Production Park. The park in Purfleet is home to the Royal Opera House workshops as well as the National Skills Academy.

Arrest proceedings underway on ship in Tilbury

Man wanted after glass attack on train

BRITISH Transport Police (BTP) detectives investigating an incident where a man was glassed on a train in Essex have today released CCTV images. Officers, who appealed for information earlier this month, have seized the onboard train images of a man they are keen to speak to about the incident, which took place on Saturday, 28 December and left the victim needing stitches.

Taxi driver robbery centres on Horndon area

DETECTIVES investigating the robbery of a taxi driver in south Essex are refocusing their appeal for witnesses to the Horndon-on-the-Hill area. A black cab driver had picked up five young men from Stratford’s Westfield at 1:30am on Sunday, January 12, dropping three off in Hornchurch before continuing with the fare into Essex. The man had initially suggested that he then drove to Langdon Hills where he was threatened with violence by the remaining two passengers, but has now stated that he dropped the two men off a short distance along the A128 from the eastbound A13 junction.

Grays Athletic goalkeeper banned for a year

GRAYS ATHLETIC goalkeeper, Lamar Johnson has been suspended by the FA following their investigation into an incident following a home match with Bury Town. The match took place on September 25th. Grays Ath won 4-3.

Property company detail progress on Bridgland Road storm crisis.

THE UNDER-FIRE Property Management Company at the centre of problems with storm damage to homes in Bridgland Road in Purfleet have gone on the record to update on progress made to the state of repairs. A spokesperson said: "Last October, a storm damaged the roof at a residential block of flats at the Watts Wood Park development in Purfleet.
