Noye’s Fludde: Wonderful chance to see free performance of classic!

A WONDERFUL and spectacular production of Britten’s children’s opera “Noye’s Fludde” involving over 300 young performers as singers, animals, soloists and orchestral players. The opera includes professional opera singers and professional players alongside children from schools in Tilbury and Southend.

GRAYS-based singing sisters Irene and Elsa Major always dreamt of stardom. Like most young girls growing up, they wanted to be like Madonna and Whitney Houston and spent most of their childhood, performing to their family. Irene and Elsa’s parents always encouraged them to follow their dreams and that is exactly what the sisters are doing now.

Strawberry Tea at Davy Down

THE Davy Down Trustees will be holding their 7th Breast cancer care Strawberry Tea on Sunday July 14th. The Mayor,Tony Fish, will cut the ribbon at 2pm and teas will be served until 4.30pm. If anyone can donate tombola prizes we would be very grateful and these can be left at the Civic Offices or any afternoon at Davy Down.

Double helping of Tosca for Thurrock

THE Royal Opera House’s Insights event will explore Tosca with an introduction to the story, performances of arias from the opera sung by members of the Royal Opera Chorus and the opportunity to join in some of the opera’s musical highlights under the direction of a member of The Royal Opera Music Staff. No previous singing experience is necessary, just an enthusiasm to join in. Everyone will then be fully prepared for the Big Screen performance of Tosca.

SATURDAY 13th of July sees the return of the Pzaz Reunion event at The Civic Hall Grays, these events are fast becoming the hottest ticket on the clubbing scene in Thurrock with the 3 previous events each selling over 1000 tickets. Julys event will see a live performance from 90s dance legends Livin’ Joy who has two number one hits with “Don’t Stop Movin” and “Dreamer” alongside original Pzaz dj Leon C.

TTMS invite you in to the Little Shop of Horrors

STEP right up to the Thameside Theatre next week and see the fabulous Audrey II, the worlds strangest and most interesting unidentified plant....... Thurrock based Am Dram group Thurrock Thameside Musical Society (TTMS) are staging 4 performances of the brilliant comedy musical Little Shop of Horrors at the Thameside Theatre between the 4th and 6th of July. This lively show was made famous in the 1980's by the film of the same name which starred Rick Moranis and Steve Martin. TTMS don't have them, but they do have an amazing line up of Thurrock talent who have been rehearsing hard to bring this fun and challenging musical production to life.

Thurrock Lifestyle Solutions star in soccerbility tournament

AFTER only three training sessions together the TLS football found themselves in the Basildon Soccerbility Academy Tournament. TLS were narrowly defeated by local rivals Thurrock MENCAP 1-0 in a tight game. TLS did even better in the last game of the day against Basildon 2s earning a well deserved 1-1 draw. Scenes of jubilation greeted the TLS first ever goal.

Contemporary young musician of the year set for Thameside

THURROCK'S first Contemporary Young Musician of the Year reaches its climax in July at the Thameside Theatre. In the heats at the Culver Centre on May 27, performers, including three bands and two singer/guitarists - playing guitar, bass, drums and singing were bidding to make the final.

Cariads: New carers service launched in Thurrock

THURROCK Council is funding a new organisation in an effort to expand the services it provides for carers across the borough. CARIADS (Carers Information and Advice Service) was launched at the Beehive, Grays, on Tuesday (11 June) by Mayor of Thurrock, Cllr Tony Fish.
