Tenek: Higher Ground

YT often likes it when artistes are passing through the borough. Recently, Tenek were filming their video for Higher Ground at Coalhouse Fort in East Tilbury. Tenek are Geoff Pinckney and Pete Steer from Sussex, UK. Debut album 'Stateless' released in March 2009 with single 'Blinded By You' released in July 2010 and new album 'On The Wire' out now. When you’re blue and you don’t know where to go-try the Thameside

Thurrock’s Operatic, under the artistic direction of Ann Sullivan bring together the songs, the dance routines and over 100 costumes to tell this tale for a one day pit stop performances at the Thameside on Sunday 24th July. With local singers taking to the stage alongside a line up of experienced dancers there’s a mix of ballads, tap dance routines, romantic love songs, and comic duets that Irving Berlin was worldly know for. Songs from the classic musical Annie Get Your Guns, as well as songs perforemed by the legendary Al Jolson mingle with the sparked colour of glitz and glamorous costumes.

Royal Opera House Boss praises Thurrock’s Celebration of Culture

The Chief Executive of the Royal Opera House, Tony Hall (Baron Hall of Birkenhead) was present at the screening. We took the opportunity to speak to Tony and discuss the warm relationship between the Royal Opera House and the local community. He was also kind enough to heap praise on the first ever Thurrock International Celebration of Culture that takes place throughout July.

Visitors to the High House Production Park in Purfleet can enjoy a free screening of Cinderella or tour the Bob and Tamar Manoukian Production Workshop, take part in a drumming workshop or join the Thurrock Community Chorus for a summer concert.

The Tilbury Tightrope: Part Two

Funded by Thurrock Education Services the project welcomes young people from all over Thurrock to participate in creating a new version of The Tilbury Tightrope on the 10th of July at Woodview School. Featuring Hip Hop dance, spoken word and rap, graffiti art and live music this is the story of Ashley a young woman from Tilbury battling to make a better life for her and her mum. Using her extraordinary powers of agility and strength she climbs into the clouds to find a bright new future.
