Essex Police react to “savage” cuts

The Spending Review announced today, Wednesday, October 20, 2010, has confirmed that the police service will have to make significant savings. Although final figures will not be known until the grant settlement is made in late November/early December, it is our assessment that Essex Police will have to save a figure in the region of approximately £50 million by 2014.

Save a life in Grays with the ambulance service

Volunteers take it in turn to be 'on call' and carry basic first aid equipment and a simple-to-use automated external defibrillator (AED). The emergency operations centre sends them to the scene of category A (immediately life threatening) 999 calls. First Responders are dispatched at the same time as the ambulance crew, but often arrive beforehand because they are based so locally. The responder then provides care until the ambulance arrives, usually only a few minutes later.

Further arrests following M25 fatal

The 54-year-old man from Wickford was arrested on Saturday, October 16, on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He has been released on police bail pending further enquiries to December 14.
