THE PARK Inn Thurrock have been awarded a Silver Award by the Green Tourism Business Scheme for the vast number of eco-friendly and green-aware initiatives they have implemented.

Gable Hall scoops Educational Outcomes Award

GABLE Hall’s success was identified in a recent in-depth analysis of official Department for Education data on all state funded schools in England by SSAT, the national school’s membership organisation for improvement and collaboration. The school qualified for the award by being in the top 20% of schools nationally for progress made by pupils between their key stage 2 results at primary school and their GCSE results at age 16.

Trial date set for case of teen stabbed to death in Grays

THE murder trial following the stab death of a 14-year-old Surrey boy has been set for September 15. Breck Bednar, of Crescent Road, Caterham, who was a pupil at St Bede's School in Redhill, died from a neck wound in February at a property in Grays, Essex.

Three Thurrock schools scoop Elephant prize

After reviewing hundreds of entries from each school, the winning designs were selected by a judging panel comprising of representatives from the shopping centre, the schools and the local media. The young winners will now get to paint their very own elephant statues which will stand shoulder to shoulder at intu Lakeside from 5th May with those by top artists and celebrities, including Claudia Schiffer and Union J.

A NUMBER of East Tilbury residents have expressed their "concerns" after Gypsy-Travellers moved into the East Tilbury area. A large number of caravans moved in at just before the weekend near to Coronation Avenue.

All Thurrock’s war memorials being refurbished

CONTRACTORS working with Thurrock Council’s housing team on the Transforming Homes project are working to bring all of the borough’s war memorials up to the finest standard before the First World War centenary on 4 August this year. Lakehouse, Wates and Keepmoat will be doing the work – at no cost to the council or council trax payers – as part of their Transforming Homes contract.

Battle of the Festivals: T Fest versus E Fest!

MUSIC festivals seem to be like buses. Thurrock didn't have one for years and then three turn up. On July 26th and 27th, a weekend of tribute acts will take to Blackshots Field in Fake Fest. This should see a host of national and local tribute acts.
