Burlesque dancers to trip down the aisles

BURLESQUE dancers will be tripping the light aisle seven for shoppers in Thurrock this Christmas. Burlesque Jems have classes across Essex that combine dance with a body confidence ethos.

Update: Orsett shooting: Police guard at man’s bedside

POLICE are at the bedside of a man who received gunshot wounds in an incident in Orsett on Tuesday afternoon. The man was rushed to a London hospital after another man was found dead in Hemsley Road.

One man dead, one injured in Hemley Road, Orsett

A MAN HAS BEEN found dead in a property in Hemley Road, Orsett this afternoon (Tuesday). Essex Police were called to the scene at just after 3.10pm after reports of a man injured in a house. On reaching the scene, one man was found dead within the property.

Grays Shopping Centre Christmas Party!!

GRAYS Shopping Centre will be holding a spectacular Christmas party on Saturday 7th December, 10am -4pm. This day will see personal appearances from the very own Postman Pat and Jess the Cat! They will be appearing at intervals throughout the day and the children of Grays can meet and have their photograph taken with them. There will be plenty more to see and do during the day with a stilt walker roaming the Centre and free festive face painting.

A 36-year-old local man lost his mobile telephone near to Tesco on Southend Road at 8pm on Monday, November 25. The HTC has a security app installed and so, when the handset’s PIN was entered incorrectly a number of times, it took photographs of a man who was in possession of it.

Accountancy student Rebecca is on top of the world

FORMER Palmer's student, Rebecca Whyman found her love for accounting whilst studying at Palmer’s College and has just obtained the highest mark in the world in her ACCA exams. Rebecca was awarded a 99% mark in her F5 Management and Performance paper which forms part of the ACCA exam. Local girl Rebecca is currently working as a trainee accountant whilst undertaking her ACCA exams. She said, “I was shocked that I received the highest mark in the world but at the same time was overjoyed with what I had achieved. “I owe my success to Palmer’s as the teachers were always supportive and made my lessons very interesting.

Volunteers get ready for community café

THIRTY-plus volunteers from Aveley, Grays and Ockendon gathered at Grays Beach Park Café for training on how to run a Community Café. Some have skills to add to their experience, some just to give back to the community. The successful Lightship Café is getting ready to open its doors again in January on saturdays with permission from Thurrock Council.

ID now needed to use Linford waste site

THURROCK Council is to clamp down on traders illegally using the Civic Amenity site at Linford. The site only has a household waste licence and should only be used by Thurrock residents to dispose of waste from their homes. However, it has become increasingly obvious that traders are taking advantage of the situation and tipping business waste at the site.
