TWO MALES were arrested after being found in a unoccupied shop premises in Grays High Street yesterday. The incident happened at 1.30pm yesterday afternoon when police were called to the former Dominoes Health Centre in the busy high street.
Around 10.50am an 84 year old woman from South Ockendon was behind a white Ford Transit van as it reversed out of a parking space and unfortunately collided with her. She was taken to Queens Hospital, Romford where subsequently she died of her injuries.
Investigating officer, Pc Nick May, said: "These CCTV frames show two men that we want to speak to about the robbery. We have released them in the hope that someone may recognise their distinctive clothing. If you do know who they are, I appeal to you to come forward to us. Thankfully the workers were uninjured, but it would have been very frightening for them. We need to find out who these men are.”
AN 84-year-old South Ockendon woman was knocked down and killed in a road traffic collision in Thurrock this morning (Wednesday). The fatal collision occurred at 10.50 am on Motherwell Way in West Thurrock.
A 23-year-old Lithuanian man wil be appearing before Basildon Magistrates Court this morning, Wednesday, August 17, 2011, charged with attempted murder. This follows an incident on July 20, 2011 at Belhus Park, South Ockendon when another 23-year-old Lithuanian man was found with stab wounds to his abdomen.
OVER £10,000 worth of pipes from the classic Compton organ that graced the State Cinema in Grays has been stolen. It was originally reported in July that only £100 worth of materials were stolen from the Grade 2 listed building but now it has been revealed that the real cost is over £10,000 as over 300 pipes from the organ were ripped out and stolen.

We’ll be working to make it as safe and enjoyable an event as possible for everyone involved but we would ask visitors to follow our safety advice and take sensible precautions to stop their weekend being ruined by a very small number of people who may come to the festival for the wrong reason.
Matthew Clark, 35, of Centurion Way, Purfleet, appeared at Basildon Magistrates Court on Thursday, August 11, charged with perverting the course of justice and failing to stop at the scene of an accident where injury was caused, alongside Jennie-Lee Campbell, 34, of the same address, appeared charged with perverting the course of justice, driving while disqualified and driving with no insurance.
Niki Coggin, who has breached his parole, is described as white, 6ft 2ins tall, of medium build, with brown eyes and cropped, curly brown hair. He talks with a London accent and is believed to have links to the Purfleet and Ockendon areas.
A CHADWELL man appeared in court today (Thursday) to answer charges in connection with sending menacing messages in relation to the recent riots that have swept across the country. Steven Jones, (18), Stour Road, Grays, only spoke to confirm his name and address at Basildon magistrates court.
At 9.40pm on Tuesday, August 9, suspects approached the counter in the betting shop, produced a knife and demanded money from two women workers, who are in their 20s and 30s. An estimated £400 was stolen before the suspects ran off.
DI Danny Stoten said: "Thankfully the workers in the shop were uninjured, but what a frightening ordeal this must have been to them. There may have been a few passers by in the area at the time, and we want to hear from you if you saw this man in the vicinity.
An Essex Police spokesman said an 18-year-old man from Grays and a 16-year-old youth from South Ockendon were arrested late last night on suspicion of incitement to commit violent disorder. Both are alleged to have used social networking sites and messaging systems to encourage others to gather and become involved in violent disorder in Essex and London. Both remain in police custody.
Essex Police would like to dispel a number of fictitious and malicious rumours which are circulating this evening, particularly on social networking sites. We would like to inform residents of Essex there is no rioting in the county akin to what has been seen on the news as happening in parts of London.
TWELVE Thurrock taxis have been seized and a further six served with prohibition notices as part of an ongoing operation around suspected illegal money lending and theft.
Iain Banks, a 26-year-old unemployed man from Milton Road, Grays and 29-year-old labourer Lee Horning from Cole Avenue, Chadwell St Mary were detained in police custody prior to their appearance at Southend Magistrates Court on Saturday 6 August.
