Partner walkabout day in Purfleet next week

Partners taking part in the event include a number of teams from Essex Police, Thurrock Council - housing, horticulture, Trading Standards and Community Protection responsible for anti-social behaviour and environmental crime. Essex Fire and Rescue and Essex Probations Community Payback workers will also get involved. PCSOs are already out and about in Purfleet gathering details of problems which will be looked at as part of the walkabout day. They are visiting local groups as well as calling on residents’ in person.

Be wary of PC scam in Thurrock

This type of scam first came to light over 12 months ago but Consumer Direct continues to receive many calls from consumers who have either received such calls and wish to report them or from those who have given card payment details after access was granted to the PC. By allowing access to your PC or laptop it is possible that spyware may be installed and your personal information compromised.

Death of Horse: Further arrests

A 30-year-old man from South Ockendon has been arrested in connection with the death of the horse which was discovered on Monday, May 9. A pony was found at the farm on Monday with injuries which proved to be fatal. A 31-year-old man from South Ockendon was arrested on Monday, and released on police bail pending further enquiries until July 19. Investigations to date have established that this man was not the person seen in the barn where the horse was found.

Women pleads for the return of her guitar

Between 11.20pm on Saturday, April 30 and 11.30am the next day, suspects gained entry through the front door and stole a black handmade American walnut lacquered wooden guitar with gold coloured accessories and a name on the head in gold stickers, that could possibly be removed. It is worth an estimated £1,200. A handbag, a purse, £130 cash and a mobile phone were also stolen, making the total estimated haul worth £1,560.

Man held after burglary at Garden Centre

At 11.45pm on Friday, April 15, a burglary allegedly occurred at the garden centre and two BBQs, worth an estimated £800, were stolen. A 23-year-old man from Grays was arrested in connection with the offence on suspicion of burglary other than dwelling, and has been released on bail until Thursday, May 19, pending further investigation.

Gracelands have left the building

The licensee of Gracelands Off Licence, Clarence Road, Grays, has been fined £250, ordered to pay £800 costs and forfeit her licence after admitting failing to comply with conditions on her licence.

Burglars foiled at attempt break-in in Aveley

The men were disturbed by the woman occupier as they tried to force the front door and a window, and they ran off along Mill Lane towards the High Street. The men responsible are both described as being of Asian appearance, the first was in his late 20s, 5'6-7", medium build, dark hair and wearing a light coloured jacket, and the second was early 20s, 5'3", stocky build and wearing a light coloured T shirt.

“Tired” drivers taken off the road in crackdown

Police who barred a lorry driver from the road for failing to take adequate breaks also stopped a replacement driver for the same offence when he arrived to take over the load.

Man in court over metal theft

Jordan ELLIS, an 18-year-old male student from Seabrooke Rise, Grays will appear at Basildon Magsitrates Court today, April 21, charged with one count of attempted theft and one count of criminal damage. The charges are in relation to an attempted theft of metal from a building in Lenthall Avenue, Grays.

“Racial road rage” leads to arrest in Grays

The alleged incident occurred around 6pm on Saturday evening on Orsett Road, Grays near to the Thameside Theatre. A man was arrested for using racially aggravated threatening behaviour and other public order offences.

Tilbury sham wedding fixer jailed

When Magezi was stopped by police outside the church he attempted to flee, running up Dock Road and hurdling a fence on to the railway line. Officers gave chase and arrested him in a nearby alleyway. Magezi insisted that he believed the wedding was genuine. He said that when he was confronted by the officers he thought he was being robbed, which was why he ran and he explained that he had kept Marti's identification document for her because he had deep pockets.
