Fire at Tilbury leisure centre

Firefighters were called to the old leisure centre at Calcutta Road, Tilbury on Thursday night after it was set alight. On arrival at the scene, crews reported that 20 per cent of the rear of the property was well alight but that the whole of the building was heavily smoke logged.

Man held for GBH after incident in Tilbury

A man has been charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent and possessing a knife in public following an incident in Tilbury. James Blakey-Campbell, 18 of St Chads Road, Tilbury, was charged on Wednesday night and appeared at Basildon Magistrates’ Court on Friday morning.

Garages burnt down in Tilbury

ECFRS Control operators originally got a call to rubbish alight and sent one appliance to the scene. When firefighters arrived, they reported two garages well alight and the recycling bins were also involved. A third crew was ordered to the scene for additional manpower.

Girl suffers racial abuse at bus stop

Elderly driver sought after Manorway crash

The yellow Peugeot collided with a white Renault Kangoo van, whose driver was slightly injured. It may be that the driver of the Peugeot was an elderly woman, and police would like the driver to contact them.
