Bus driver stabbed and robbed in Chadwell St Mary

A BUS driver was stabbed and robbed in Chadwell St Mary this afternoon (Monday). The attack happened at 4.40 pm in Waterson Road on a no 83 Ensign Bus.

TILBURY resident, Steve Lambert died last week in Spain after a short illness. Steve was 55 years of age. Most people will know him as Steve the Taxi, as he was, like his son and his grandson, a London cabbie. Rotary and church race night raises key funds for Ugandan church

ON Saturday 8th March at St Josephs Hall, Stanford le Hope around 90 racegoers supported this joint venture to raise funds to rebuild the Maternity Unit in Mitala Maria, Uganda. The evening began with a welcome by Rotary Club President-Karen Sayers-Irving and then Philip Hills (parishioner & Rotary Club member) explained in more detail about the Ugandan project.

Inquest date set after death of young mum

AN INQUEST is set to take place to examine the circumstances surrounding the death of a South Ockendon woman last year. Paige Williams, of Nicholas Close, South Ockendon, died on July 2nd last year after reportedly inhaling her own vomit after falling ill in the night.

IN 1933 a party of Bata men and women came to set up a shoe making company in England and settled in East Tilbury they in time built his town, this was both a place to work and also to live, with its own shops , school, cinema, swimming pool its own farm and everything to make a thriving community. Sadly owing to cheaper imports over several years, in 2006 the Bata factory closed down after a gradual decline in trade. The Bata Reminiscence and Resource Centre is at the East Tilbury Library with its museum of Seventy Years of memories.
