Ofsted full of praise for Grays Baptist pre-school

OFSTED has delivered a glowing report on the Grays Baptist pre-school in Orsett Road, Grays. THE pre-school felt that a report last year that put them in special measures was a harsh judgement but since then they have worked tirelessly to address the recommendations in the 2013 report.

Primary schools learn road safety skills with Kerbcraft

ON Friday 18 July, the volunteers, who help training the children, were invited to a Thank You presentation and coffee morning at the council’s Civic Offices in Grays, where they were presented with certificates for taking part in the scheme.

A ST CLERE'S school pupil pleaded guilty to making threats to kill at the Stanford-le-Hope school. The 12-year-old male, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared at Basildon magistrates court this week.

Ava’s a smart cookie as she beats the street

POINTS will be given a boost on Friday 11 July when Trevor Rawson of Tai Chi for Health (Essex) begins his own personal challenge at midnight. He will be tapping Thurrock’s 104 Beat Boxes in one session by walking, jogging and cycling a distance of 67 miles. Trevor’s chosen charity is Sugarloaf Riding for the Disabled.

Polly goes back to the Convent to encourage girls to chase “hopes and dreams”.

Polly led a whole school assembly encouraging girls to think about the hopes and dreams that they have for their futures and how to plan the steps that will make these hopes and dreams a reality. Pupils listened with interest to Polly’s story of how she made the decision to become a Parliamentary candidate and the route she had taken to get to this point in her career, including working for the BBC as a reporter on Radio 1’s Newsbeat.
